BRIAN HARKINS
I have 32 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services and am currently a Firefighter Paramedic. I am a veteran and served in Desert Shield Desert Storm with the U.S. Army. My passion for advocacy towards mental health and wellness for first responders started when I experienced struggles with my mental health after several back-to-back traumatic work calls. I attended Struggle Wells and a wellness retreat and came out of that with an understanding that we have to care for our own mental health to be able to care for others. In 2020, I started a weekly online peer support group for first responders and healthcare workers that continues to run strong today. We can work together to develop overall wellness through my services of decluttering your home and peer support. I am also available for consulting and speaking engagements. Here are a few of my other professional highlights:
— Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Central MA (2024-present)
— Certified Life Coach Certification from Transformation Academy (2024)
— Featured in the 2023 documentary First Responders in Crisis. Check it out HERE
— QPR Instructor
— EMS Instructor
— Former EMS educator
— Former field supervisor
— Former hospital EMS manager
— Former officer at the Department of Corrections
